The Operating System allows communicating
with disk drives, printers, monitors etc. It’s also for communication between
the computer and application programs. You must install Operating System to
operate your computer. Operating system is like a translator between user and
computer. It translates commands and tells the computer how to interpret that
command. Translate External Command, Internal Command so the computer can
perform the task. Application programs whether they are a word doc,
spreadsheet, a game application is written for specific operating systems. They
use the Operating System’s command set to interpret the functions and duties
that they want performed. That’s why the boxes these programs come in say right
on them, whether the application is for DOS, Windows, or Macintosh operating
systems.
Present we are working on operating systems:
Windows XP, Windows 7, Vista, Linux, MAC
